The pessimism of today's man and the melancholy of the three sisters take root in the same sensibility of fin de siecle. At least that is what Eötvös Péter thinks by watching the destiny of Olga, Irina and Mása appearing in his peers? palms. Instead of being the musical adaption of Tshechov's drama, this opera is much more the imprint of a way of thinking and feeling. The unforgetable experience is garanteed by the duplication of the orchestra, the presentation reminding Japanese kabuki, and the exceptional tone of the singers, called countertenor.

A mai ember borúlátása és a három nővér melankóliája ugyanabban a századvégi érzékenységben gyökerezik. Legalábbis a zeneszerző olvasatában, aki kortársai tenyerében Olga, Irina és Mása sorsát látja kirajzolódni. Eötvös Péter operája nem a csehovi dráma zenei adaptációja, sokkal inkább egy hangulat, egy életérzés lenyomata. Az élményt a zenekar megkettőzése, az énekesek kontratenor hangszíne és a japán kabukira emlékeztető előadásmód teszi garantáltan felejthetetlenné.
