Vaste Julien Bruneau, Mohanad Yaqubi & Idioms Film |

Date : |
Mohanad and Julien share the stage, facing the audience. Both are 27 years of age. They are artists. Mohanad is a photographer and film director, Julian a dancer and choreographer. Mohanad is Palestinian and lives in Ramallah, Julien Belgian, from Brussels . The work opens with their respective self-portraits. Then other people appear on stage around them, creating a quartet of two (European) dancers and two (Palestinian) photographers. The “event” created by the dance is recorded there and then by the photographers. Through their pictures, they offer a history of the dance and a history of their own dance, immediately reinterpreted. But this is a subjective history, transformed by where the photographers look and what they choose to photograph. Images, dance and words reveal two interwoven identities, toying with the power of the stage to render everything “fiction”. |
